1. Site visit and heater sizing
We measure the space, check the panel for available capacity, and calculate the heater output your room actually needs. Glass doors, uninsulated exterior walls and high ceilings all add load. You get a written spec covering the heater, the wood, the venting and the electrical before anything is ordered.
2. Permits, rough-in and wiring
We pull the Los Angeles electrical and building permits, frame or prep the space, run the dedicated circuit from your panel, and install insulation, vapor barrier and the vent openings. A licensed electrician makes the heater tie-in and the inspector signs off before we close any walls.
3. Finish, heater set and first burn
Tongue-and-groove paneling goes up, benches and backrests get built to your layout, the heater is mounted and the stones set. We run the first curing cycle, verify the room hits temperature on schedule, and hand over the controls, the accessories and the care sheet.
When You Need Sauna Installation
A professional sauna installation is the right call when:
- You want a home sauna you will actually use. A room that heats in 30 minutes and holds temperature gets used four times a week. A poorly built one gets used twice and becomes storage.
- The heater needs a dedicated circuit. Most sauna heaters draw 30 to 60 amps at 240V. That is a home run to the panel, a correctly sized breaker and, in many Los Angeles homes, a panel capacity check first.
- You are converting an existing room. Closets, bathrooms, garages and basements all need the framing, insulation and vapor barrier rebuilt before they can hold sauna heat.
- You bought a sauna kit and want it installed properly. We receive the shipment, prep the space, assemble to manufacturer spec and do the electrical so your warranty stays intact.
- Ventilation matters to you. Intake below the heater, exhaust on the opposite wall, sized to the room. Without it the air goes stale and the top bench cooks while the floor stays cold.

What Affects the Cost of Sauna Installation
Sauna installation pricing in Los Angeles moves with the size of the room, the heater and how much of the space has to be rebuilt. The main drivers:
- Room size. A 4×5 two-person room is the entry point. A 6×7 four-person room is the most common build. Family-size and outdoor rooms scale from there.
- Heater type and output. A 6kW electric heater is the value option. Wood-fired stoves add a flue and a combustion permit. Air-circulation and humidity-control heaters sit at the top of the range.
- Electrical distance. A short run from a nearby subpanel is a modest line item. A long run through finished walls, or a panel upgrade, is not.
- Wood species. Western red cedar is the benchmark. Hemlock and Nordic spruce come in slightly under it. Thermo-aspen and abachi are the premium tier.
- How much rebuilding is needed. A framed, insulated space ready to receive paneling installs fast. A garage bay with no insulation and no vapor barrier does not.
- Permits and inspection. Electrical permits are standard on every install. Framing changes and outdoor structures add a building permit. Both are quoted up front, never added later.

How much does a home sauna installation cost?
In Los Angeles most home sauna installations land in a wide band depending on room size, heater and how much of the space has to be rebuilt. A small two-person indoor conversion in an already framed closet is the low end. A six-person cedar room with a premium heater, new circuit and glass door is mid-range. What are the electrical requirements for a sauna heater?
Nearly every electric sauna heater needs a dedicated 240V circuit with no other loads on it. A 4.5kW heater typically needs 30 amps, a 6kW heater 30 to 40 amps, a 8 to 9kW heater 40 to 50 amps and a 10.5 to 12kW heater 60 amps. The wire has to be sized for the run length and the heater has to be hard-wired, not plugged in. We check your panel capacity first, because older Los Angeles homes on a 100-amp service often need a subpanel or a service upgrade before a large heater is viable.
Can I install a sauna without a permit?
Not legally in Los Angeles, and not safely. The dedicated 240V circuit requires an electrical permit in every jurisdiction we work in. Framing a new room or building an outdoor structure adds a building permit, and a wood-fired heater adds a combustion and venting permit. Unpermitted work turns into a problem at resale, during an insurance claim, or on the day something fails. We pull every permit as part of the install and coordinate the inspections.
How long does a sauna installation take?
An indoor conversion in a space that is already framed usually runs one to two weeks on site once materials arrive, plus permit lead time. A full closet or garage conversion runs two to three weeks. Outdoor builds with a foundation take four to six weeks. The heater and wood order is normally the longest lead item, so we place it as soon as the spec is signed.
Which brands provide eco-friendly sauna heaters and steam generators?
We install across the major brands and can spec efficient units in any of them. On the electric side, look for heaters with well-insulated cabinets, high stone mass and a modern digital control with a scheduling timer, because holding heat efficiently matters far more than the nameplate rating. On the steam side, look for auto-drain and auto-flush generators, which use less water and last considerably longer in hard-water areas like ours.
